Figure Heads
This sculpture was inspired by a painting by Picasso called Maternity but changed a great deal as it was being made. The only remaining likeness to the painting is the shawl.

'Water-Nymph'
This sculpture was inspired by
a water-nymph in a painting
called 'Hylas and the Nymphs'
by one of my favourite artists
John W. Waterhouse.
The base is covered by a pool of
melted blue glass on
which float waterlillies.

This sculpture was originally intended as a protest against the Tianamen Square massacre in Beijing in 1989. I had intended to decorate the hair with barbed-wire, tanks and guns but I ended up replacing them with flowers.
This sculpture was based on an 'Art Nouveau' bust of Sappho by S. Obiolo
'Lace'
This was inspired by a  photo of Bianca Jagger wearing a Marie Antoinette shepherdess dress by Emanuel.(1975)
I used real handmade lace (made by my nan many years ago) to get the lace pattern on the clay.
'Amidala'
This sculpture was inspired by designs for the costumes and hair styles of Queen Amidala from the film Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace
